The FA Regulations have changed for 2025/2026 surrounding Football Debt Recovery Action (FDR)

The Regulations now limit the FDR to Misconduct and Discipline monies only for clubs.

  • Clubs must serve a Formal Notice (in writing) to the player within 10 days of the date on which the relevant debt arose (i.e. the date of invoice on Club Portal)
  • If the Debt has not been recovered within 10 days of this Formal Request, the Club may submit a Notice of claim to the County within 28 days of when the debt arose.
  • Clubs should provide:
    1. A copy of the invoice
    2. A copy of the formal notice
    3. Provide the name, email address and date of birth of the player
    4. Pay an administration fee of £25.00. (This is added to the debt)
  • The player will then have 21 days to make payment. If no payment is received, a suspension will be issued to the player until such time as the debt is paid.
